Adian was in a foul mood. Nothing new considering his mood was never described as sunny anyway, but today was an especially bad day since the start. Most of the time he was left alone and stewed in his own thoughts. Today though the voices had returned after just a few days and they were driving him crazy.
When they first started Adian was sure it was just some loud students that didn't know their place and insisted on bothering him. Of course this was not the case and he soon discovered that the voices were not just at times when he was around other students, but at random times sometimes even waking him int he middle of the night.
When this occurred he usually would wander out by himself so as to take the time to clear his mind and in hopes of getting rid of the voices. Pulling his cloak around his frame he slipped out of the castle knowing that if he was caught he would be in trouble. Again, not a new concept to him. He always seemed to be getting into some sort of scrape or just happened to be at the wrong place at the wrong time.
Making his way down to the lake he shivered a bit as the wind whipped at his face. It was not a warm night at all and the clouds above looked like they would spit snow at any moment. The only thing he was happy about was the fact that the cold would keep everyone else inside where it was warm.
Nearing the water Adian dropped to the cold hard ground pulling his hood up to block the wind the best he could. Drawing his long legs up to his chest he layed his chin on his knees and looked out over the water. The moon was high in the sky and the reflection off the water danced in the wave the wind created. This was the time that Adian liked best. The silence and sight of the water moving calmed him a bit.
After staring for a few minutes he could feel the strangle hold the voices had on his mind ease and he was alone in his own head once more. A sigh of relief escaped his lips as he closed his eyes thanking some unknown force for the silence. The cold nipped at his skin, but the release of the voices was enough to calm him and he could endure the cold for awhile just for the escape.
True escape never would come to Adain. He had battled the demons that haunted him for years, never truly escaping. They followed him everywhere he went and were relentless most of the time. He was alone as he had always been, with no help in sight.
Opening his violent green eyes once more he looked out at the water slicing against the shoreline. Peace, something that always evaded him, was within his grasp once again. Glancing up at the clouds as they made their way across the sky he wondered how long he could escape the snow they threatened to drop.
