((Halloween Masque)) Dylan scowled at his reflection, once again attempting to get his tie to sit correctly about his neck. The grayish material held a blue tinge to it, small dots breaking up the monotony of color. Finally getting the tie to behave, Dylan smoothed out his white shirt collar. He picked up the pinstripe jacket, slipping it over his broad shoulders as he double checked everything was in place. Serenity had picked out the outfit for him, a relief since he really didn't have any idea of what he was going to wear. It wasn't as if he owned many things beyond jeans and t-shirts. He ran a hand over his hair, the shaggy locks not exactly behaving for him. It felt strange to have his feet trapped within shoes, since the majority of the time he spent anywhere was in the blessed comfort of running around barefoot. He picked up the simple black mask Serenity had gotten for him, deciding not to put it on until they reached the ballroom. Dylan wasn't entirely sure what made him decide to attend the event. Perhaps it was just another excuse to get to see Serenity, one he had jumped at almost immediately. Exiting the room he had taken over to change in, he began the trip to Serenity's room. His feet moved on autopilot, his mind locked on his own thoughts and feelings. Serenity had hinted that there was something she was hiding from him, and if he was reading her correctly, she would be revealing what that was very soon. It made him nervous and excited all at the same time. Not to mention, despite her reassurances Vlad would not be a problem, he was concerned about the possible ramifications of attending the ball together. No one even knew that they were seeing each other, let alone that Serenity was actually his sire. It was going to be very interesting to see the reactions of everyone at the ball. Before he knew it, Dylan found himself standing outside Serenity's door. Lifting one hand, he knocked softly even though he could feel her presence through their link. Unless she was incredibly distracted, he suspected his sire had felt him coming long before he even realized he had made it to her room. His hand rose to tug uncomfortably at his collar, loosening the tie just a bit to make it more comfortable. He wasn't used to wearing nice clothing, and he found himself shifting in his shoes. A smile crossed his face. He probably looked like a teenager on his first date given his inability to stand still. SuitMask

This was it. Serenity thought to herself as she stepped out of the bath she had been soaking in for the past hour. She’d been trying to assure herself that she was doing the right thing, that everything would work out and it would all be for the best. Oh how she hoped she was right. Vlad had been pleased when she had informed him of the situation and it was the only reason Serenity had known that they would had no trouble with him. Mina, her grandmother was happy as always, Selenity on the other hand was not exactly angry nor displeased about it, though Serenity really didn’t care about her opinion. She hadn’t told Erik, she was almost afraid to, and Robin, well it was the first time that she and Robin had spoken so that was quite a conversation, but the teen was ecstatic to say the least.
Serenity glanced in the mirror for a moment at the baby bump that was there mocking her in someway she felt. “All this trouble over you hmm?” She asked rubbing her hand over it for a moment before she continued to get ready. She’d been hiding it from everyone since she had found out three months earlier, concealment charms and potions were amazing things she found. Slipping into the blue and green dress she had gotten she set about curling her hair to give it a bit of body and as she did so she could sense Dylan on his way. And she wasn’t the only one, she noted, if a kick the stomach was anything to go by. She honestly hadn’t been this nervous since she had told Erik she was going to have Robin. Now here she was seventeen years later about to give Dylan a son in three months.
Would he be happy? Angry? Serenity wasn’t sure and it was a great strain on her trying to block these thoughts from their link as the babe was determined to reach his father, as all vampire babies were prone to do. As she felt Dylan on the other side of the door and stood slowly and slipped on the heels she was planning to wear and smoothed the dress down once again, knowing that the bump was clearly visible. She was halfway along and she was only going to get a little bigger after this, she could only imagine what the students of her house were going to say at the news. The students she had when she was carrying Robin had gone a little crazy with the information and by the time she was born Serenity hadn’t needed anything for her. Reaching the door, she opened it slowly and took in the sight of Dylan in the suit she had picked out and smiled at him warmly despite how twisted her insides felt in that moment.
“You look very handsome; I must say I do have remarkable taste.” She said with a small smirk. She then motioned towards her dress, but did not make any of her fashion jokes instead she simply looked at him for a moment and simply said. “Surprise.”

Dylan waited outside her door for just a few moments. Strange how time seemed to take forever to pass when he wasn't around Serenity. Before he had been reunited with her, it seemed like the years slipped by without him even noticing. Time really didn't have any meaning for him, but now every second seemed like a gift. In some ways, he would have thought that’s how he would have felt right after the accident but it wasn't. It wasn't until Serenity reentered his life that time went back to normal. The door opened and Serenity stepped out. The first thing he noticed was her eyes, sparkling that shade of blue he adored. Her hair was slightly curled and hung about her shoulders, framing her features attractively. A bright smile lit up his face at the sight of her.
His eyes glided down from her face, lips parting to greet her as he took in her green dress. The smile froze on his face, mouth slowly dropping open in utter shock. His bright green eyes widened in surprise, brows rising as they vanished under his hair. All he could do was stand there like a moron and gap at Serenity. His gaze was fixated on the bulge around her abdomen, the gentle swelling under the fabric screaming what it was as his mind fought to comprehend what he was seeing. His mouth opened and shut a few times, unable to make a single sound as he continued to stare unblinkingly at the bump. Racing through the various thoughts in his mind, Dylan was forced to realize that all the signs had been there for some time. It explained her strange and seemingly sudden rejection of his company.
"Serenity." He finally managed to gasp out, his shocked gaze rising to her eyes. Disbelief shone in his eyes, surprise written all over his face but no emotion was clear yet. "What... how.. I mean..." He ran a hand through his hair, musing the locks as he began to fidget in place, searching for the right words. He closed his eyes for a moment, centering himself before opening his eyes and locking them on her features. Dylan took a step toward Serenity, his face bizarrely devoid of all emotion. He continued to study her, before finally speaking. "Are you telling me, that... we are... that you are pregnant?" It was strange how hard it was to get those words out. He still found himself too in shock to express any emotions, but deep inside he felt his hopes rising. Dylan wanted her to say yes, to confirm what he already suspected, but he needed to hear her say the child was his.

Serenity stood there for a long moment taking a good long look at Dylan and enjoying the stylish look. He looked rather dashing and smiling and gripping the door knob a bit tighter was all she could do to avoid dragging into the room and slamming the door behind them. Her desires were far beyond her control as she trip into Dylan’s Office was a testament to that. She knew the babe was simply trying to gage was sort of situation it was to be born into but it didn’t mean that Serenity liked it anymore then the first time it had happened to her. The first time she didn’t even know what was happening as she wasn’t speaking to her family at the time. So she was two-hundred years old and as confused as a freshly turned fledgling.
Serenity’s small smile faltered as Dylan’s face changed to one of shock and his mouth opened and closed a few times. She found herself taking a slight step back not sure how he was going to react exactly, the link was still fuzzy from her blocking a good deal of it until now so it was hard to her to gage anything so she had no idea if she should be worrying for the child or not. Serenity for once had no idea how to react to Dylan’s behavior over this, so she did what she always did when she was unsure, she closed herself up and went into defensive mode, trying her best to ignore the cries of protest in her mind.
“How?” She asked narrowing her eyes a bit. “After our little meeting three months ago you ask how?” She snapped out, still unsure of what Dylan might do she found herself placing a protective hand on the bump and glaring at her young lover. As Dylan took a step towards her, she took another step back until she was once again half in her room. Usually she would hex first and ask questions later, but her body was trying to make sure that the babe was protected. Seeing Dylan with no emotion on his face unsettled her and made her more nervous then things like that usually did. Was he displeased? Did he perhaps not want the child? She was beyond confused and it was honestly starting to do her head in. “While I may be the one carrying the babe, we,” she snapped out pointing to Dylan and then herself. “We are pregnant.” She said quickly.

Dylan couldn't remember ever feeling shock as deep as he was currently experiencing. After the accident and his transformation, he had given up the idea of ever having a child, not knowing if vampires could reproduce or who would want such an infant. He had nearly forgotten that possibility, too focused on his desire for his sire. He could see her closing up on him, but was unable to formulate words to express what he was feeling. A slight blush tinged his cheeks at her mention of the last time they had been together. It had been an intimate experience that had left him a bit hurt when she practically refused to be with him again, though now it was all beginning to make sense. The shock in his green eyes was beginning to transform into wonder and amazement.
Her protective movement struck a chord in him, drawing his gaze back down to the bump where her hand now rested. His expression slowly softened, aware that she had countered his movement toward her. Soft green eyes rose once again to her face, a smile beginning to creep over his features. "We are pregnant." He whispered, a grin lighting up his eyes as his shock finally wore off. "We are pregnant!" He nearly shouted, moving forward to sweep Serenity into his arms as a joyful laugh escaped his lips. He gently swung her around in a circle before placing her back on her feet and kissing her soundly. Holding her at arms length, he let his gaze trail back down her frame, his eyes truly drinking in the sight of her. His grin was so big he felt like it was going to be frozen on his features.
"I can't believe it." He said, one hand hesitantly moving toward her stomach before stopping. His gaze flicked back to her eyes, silently asking permission. He wasn't sure what mood she was in, or if she was happy about what they had done. For all he knew, she was simply tolerating the situation. His hand hovered over the bump, marveling that his child lay within. "I don't know what to say, Serenity." He said softly, still trying to process it. He had no hint at all that what she had been hiding was as big as a child. A smirk crossed his face, his hand lightly touching her dress where the bump was. "Do you know what it is yet?" He was hoping she was as happy as he was, but if she wasn't he was willing to take the child on himself. Dylan loved children, a weakness of his that had always tempted him toward different occupations despite his love of curse-breaking.

At the blush that graced Dylan’s face Serenity became even more confused then she had been only moments before, though she imagined it had something to do with the memories she picked up on in his head. If she were younger she supposed she would have blushed as well. She noticed the change in his eyes and was tempted to step closer but a small bit of fear kept her where she stood and didn’t allow her to move. She knew their fear she was feeling was coming from the babe, it not understanding the confusion she was feeling and it was trying to protect itself. Since Serenity had not allowed the contact the little one should have already had from Dylan the wee one was half out of its mind, which wasn’t doing Serenity any good either.
As Dylan exclaimed what Serenity could only describe to herself as pure joy over the expected bundle she allowed herself to be swept up into his arms and could feel herself relaxing again already. The babe settled as well but it’s attempts to reach Dylan through Serenity’s link increased a great deal and almost made the vampire go cross eyed from its force. She could already tell this babe would be strong, perhaps stronger then both of them. “Yes, love, pregnant. A mini us.” She said with a slightly amused grin. She couldn’t help but enjoy the feeling of relief that washed over her as she was finally able to gage Dylan a bit better now.
“Believe it!” She said quickly. I haven’t gone through three months of concealment charms, potions, and increased blood in-take for nothing.” She said with a small laugh. She hated pregnancy by the end result was worth it. As his hand hovered Serenity took hold of it and placed it firmly on the bump. “Say you’re happy, I know you seem to be, but I need to hear it.” She said slowly. “We need to hear it. You’re son has been desperately trying to reach you.” She said with small smirk. “It’s taken a great deal of my energy to block his thoughts from reaching you, as we did give him quite the scare in your office.” She said with a small laugh.

Dylan couldn't imagine feeling happier than he did at that moment. He knew he was grinning like a fool, but he simply couldn't help himself. The idea of a child that was both his and Serenity's was mind blowing, but wonderful. He felt a twinge of fear, not sure if he would be able to be a good father, especially one of vampire heritage when he was still getting a grasp on what he was himself. He could feel her relief through their link, the comforting feeling reassuring him that she wasn't unhappy with the news she was sharing. He kissed her lightly, that foolish grin still on his lips, his green eyes practically glowing with excitement. "Our child." He murmured, half wanting to shout it to the world. In the back of his mind, he was beginning to realize that a child meant he wasn't going to be alone anymore.
It certainly did explain why Serenity was so positive that Vlad wouldn't be a problem anymore, though that would mean the child was male. His eyes widened slightly, confusion tingeing his gaze again. "Why did you wait so long to tell me? You didn't need to hide anything from me." His voice was soft despite the slight hurt in it. He had already missed 3 months of watching his child grow, and he didn't understand why she had hidden it from him. He almost flinched as she took hold of his hand, relaxing as she didn't push him away. He spread his fingers out over the bump, his thumb lightly caressing the swell as he marveled at the feel of her pregnant stomach. Locking his eyes on her face, he let the honestly shine in his gaze. "I am very happy, love. More happy than I have been in some time, since before I met you again."
The smile on his face grew even larger, excitement flashing in his eyes. "Son? We are having a son?" He kissed again, thrilled at the prospect of a baby boy though he would have been just as happy with a baby girl. He flushed at the mention of his office, the events of the day making complete sense to him now. But it seemed he was doomed to flip between ecstatic and puzzled as once again his expression changed. His head tilted sideways, the smile still on his lips even as his brow furrowed in confusion. "Block his thoughts? He's been reaching for me?" Part of him was confused as to what she was talking about, the part of him afraid that he had done something wrong. He knew nothing about vampire babies, and that fact alone made him a bit anxious.

Serenity sensed a small bit of fear from Dylan and she looked at him quizzically for a moment. What caused that? Was he worried about something? She felt though the link for a moment and realized he was worried about becoming a father. It was why she had waited as long she could before telling him and with the hurt in his tone she realized that she needed to make that fact known. After he kissed her she took gave a small sigh in contentment before she started to explain. “I know I didn’t, but I did it for the exact reason I just felt that small bit of fear in you.” She said reaching up and touching his cheek lightly.
“You are so worried you don’t know enough and to add this to that, I wanted so much to teach you more before I told you.” She explained. “There was also the fact that I had a bit of a hard time coming to grips with it myself. It’s been seventeen years since I’ve gone through this and I’ve only just gotten use to the fact that my daughter is gone. It was all a bit much, even for me to process.” She said softly with a small sigh.
“If I’d known your reaction would be so positive I would have told you after the first month once I knew everything was fine.” She said trying her best to assure him of things. The babe knowing his father was now there started to kick causing Serenity to raise a brow and look down with a smirk. “Someone is awfully ready to meet you.” She said with a small snicker. “I’m glad you are happy, I didn’t know what I would honestly do if you hadn’t been. It would have made things rather difficult for the next three months.” She said with a small grimace at the thought of what would have happened had the babe been rejected by Dylan.
“Yes, a son, a strong one at that if the amount of energy he absorbs from me is anything to go by.” She said with a small laugh. “Oh yes, allow me to explain.” She said with a small smile. “Vampire babies are very conscious of the world around them after their first month and a half. They know their mother right away of course and will through them try to seek out their father and do what they can to assure themselves of a stable home. Our little one saw Katarina as a threat of sorts, hence the little display from me.” She said with a small chuckle. “They are almost completely grown at three months, but he will still be in there for another two and half to three until he’s enough energy to survive on his own.” She said with a small smile before patting her belly. “I can lower my hold on the link if you wish.” She said simply. “It won’t be words, more like incomplete thoughts, and strong surges of emotions, but he really does want to connect with you.” She said softly looking towards Dylan, her usually sharp eyes soft for the moment.

His hand rose to cradle her hand on his cheek, wishing he could be stronger for her. Dylan didn't want her to think he wasn't ready for this, that he would let her down. If anything, he had a reputation of doing the impossible no matter the disadvantage. He pushed away his twinge of fear, not wanting Serenity to notice it for long. He straightened his shoulders, feeling a deep sense of calm wash over him. After so many decades, he was more than ready to bring a new life into the world and with Serenity to show him the way, he could not fail her. He had a feeling even if he was left on his own, he would manage as he had done when he became a vampire. "Nothing will prevent me from being the father this child deserves, I promise you that Serenity."
He said softly, his gentle smile silently informing her that he understood her reasons. He wondered what she felt when she had discovered she was pregnant again. For a vampire, he supposed it was very soon to be having another child. Plus their relationship was still fairly new, having been reacquainted just that summer before the term began. His fingers lightly ran along hers, entwining his fingers with hers as he pulled it way from his cheek. "Despite everything, there is still a great deal we do not know about each other. But rest assured, no matter what I will always cherish our child." He wasn't angry that she hadn't told him, especially since he could understand her fears. For all she knew, he might have been furious with her for becoming pregnant.
Dylan laughed lightly at the mention of Katarina, all the pieces to her confusing behavior falling into place. Serenity hadn't been jealous of his friend, his son had been trying to ensure Dylan didn't leave Serenity for the mortal. It amused him to no end, though he was surprised at how conscious the child was. "Wait, 3 more months? I guess vampire pregnancies aren't as long as human ones." He grinned, the prospect of seeing his son in just a few months a pleasant one. Dylan nodded his head, not sure what to expect. "Yes, if the boy is trying to reach me it would be best not to use up your energy preventing him from doing so. Is there anything I can do to ease the energy drain on you?" It certainly was going to take some time to get used to the idea that he was going to be a father. He wondered if perhaps it had been his son who had been the source of the odd tingle in the back of his mind.

Serenity could say she honestly felt touched by the way that Dylan worked to contain his small fear. She had known in her own mind that he would do his best for the child so she had been a little surprised by her own fears. After what Dylan had told her about his own father Serenity couldn’t imagine him doing anything other the his best for a child of his own. It was strange though the way people could change when finally faced with a child of their making. Serenity was usually one of the most feared witches Hogwarts or even the Wizarding World had seen, but her children, her actual children and those she saw as her own, were enough to turn her into a sort of motherly mush. A bit annoying at times, but she wouldn’t trade it for anything.
She couldn’t be sure until she told him if Dylan would be happy at the thought of a child or angry and she was so relieved that he was happy. “There is indeed much we don’t know, but we have all the time in the world to figure it out now don’t we?” She asked with a small smile before giving him a gentle kiss. “I couldn’t ask for anymore from you then that Dylan. This babe will need someone strong to watch over him as I get the feeling he will be more then a handful.” At the mention of vampire pregnancy Serenity shook her head slightly.
“Ours are only five and a half to six moths.” She said simply. “Our babies are stronger, so they need less time then a mortal one. Serenity closed her eyes for a moment and concentrated on lowering the block that she had been working so hard to keep in place for the past three months and no sooner had she let it go did a surge of emotions rush through the link that she shared with Dylan. A glimpse of Katarina, followed by a surge of anger and protectiveness, which was followed by a flash of Dylan’s emotionless face from only moments before followed by a small wave of fear before the last a surge of contentment and curiosity flooded the link. Serenity chuckled lightly at it all surprised at how active their child was.
“Sadly love; there is little you can do to sway his hungry other then staying close by so that he doesn’t use more energy looking for you.” She said softly.

"That we do." Dylan grinned into her light kiss, realizing for the first exactly how much time he had now. Since he hadn't ever really bothered to pay attention to the passing decades, it was odd to think that he could spend forever getting to know Serenity and now his son. Dylan didn't know what kind of parent he was going to be, but with two rather extreme opposites as role-models, he hoped he would be able to find some middle ground. Fortunately, Serenity already knew what to expect from a vampire baby which was a great relief to him. A mortal child he knew he could handle, but already everything about his son was different from what he was familiar with. Dylan couldn't be prouder. A smirk slipped over his features, his green eyes hardening slightly in a protective manner.
"If he ends up being anything like me, I have no doubt that we will have our hands full. Sounds like fun to me." As she lowered the block, Dylan could feel a sudden flood of emotions surge over to him. His closed his eyes against the onslaught, focusing on each and every feeling coming from his child. A light smile crossed his face at the anger over Katarina, unconsciously sending back feelings of platonic friendship coupled with an image of Serenity and his passion for her. Dylan sifted through the emotions, focusing on the fear sparked by his lack of reaction at the news of his child. Dylan felt a twinge of sorrow, instantly showering the bond with his surprise and joy over the announcement. Finally the surge stabilized with contentment and curiosity, a bright grin flashing over his features as he opened his eyes.
Dylan reached out through the bond, tentatively brushing against his son with equal curiosity. He looked at Serenity, wonder on his contented features as he unconsciously sent reassurance and protectiveness across the bond. Already he could feel his protective nature kicking, the desire to ensure the safely of his child overriding his previous surprise. "Wow." Was all he managed to say to Serenity as he began to feel the distinction between his child and his sire. Dylan offered her his arm, unable to stop grinning. "Then I suppose I shall simply have to shadow your every move." He teased, though partly being serious about sticking to her side like a shadow. "Shall we make our way to the ball? I think we have some news to share with your co-workers and the students. I suppose I will just have to stay around for a bit longer, it's not like there is anything at the office I can't simply do here for now." His other hand reached across his body to gently press against her stomach.

The more Dylan spoke the more excited Serenity became about having the baby. She remembered quickly what it had been like when she was carrying Robin, she hadn’t been allowed to do anything for her but simply teach her lessons, staying far away from the cauldrons, and lay about like a fat lazy cat and it had driven her crazy! While she said nothing about that fact it was one of the reasons why she hadn’t told anyone about the little one that she was carrying now, at least until recently. She hated feeling useless, helpless, any emotion that made her feel as if she couldn’t pull her own weight really. Serenity watched as a hint of protectiveness appeared in his brilliant green eyes and she smiled slightly.
“Oh I was quite the heathen myself. If you ever get a chance to talk to the old bat, you should ask my mother.” She said with a soft laugh before allowing herself to relax as the feelings of both Dylan and the baby started to flow through her. It was a bit more intense then she was used to, but then again she hadn’t blocked Robin’s thoughts off for three months as she did with this little one that was a bit on the determined side, though which of them he got that from was anyone’s guess as they were both determined in their own right.
Serenity couldn’t help but grin at the curiosity that flowed between father and son and knew right away that he got that from Dylan. She tended to be curious about things, but this was on a whole other level from that. Serenity smiled at Dylan slightly before giving him a quick kiss. “Wow indeed.” She said with a small laugh. “I think the two of you will be able to make up for your brief time apart rather quickly, would you agree?” She asked with a grin. She’d never even felt that much emotion through the link between Erik and Robin and the man had worshiped the ground his daughter walked on, so this was all a bit surprising to her and left her wondering about what was to come in the next few months.
“I would suddenly have a very attractive shadow.” She said with a smile before taking the offered arm. “Indeed, let’s be on our way.” She said with a nod while stepping out of the room and closing the door behind them. “I do hope this Slytherin lot isn’t nearly as bad as the bunch when I had Robin. They were impossible! Every time I turned around one of them had something for the baby!” She said with a light laugh while giving Dylan a soft look allowing her joy to shine brightly in her eyes. "You do realize we need to think of a name right?" She asked as an afterthought which was followed by a small laugh.

Dylan relished the new contact with his unborn son, fascinated by the complex emotions the little one was sending his way. He hoped they weren't annoying Serenity since the infant needed to use her to reach out to him. He knew that eventually the contact would become as familiar as the bond he shared with Serenity, even though he still relished that contact every day. It was amazing to him that he could simply reach out and touch her at any time, find where she was in the blink of an eye. Just a few months before he hadn't even been aware of the fact that such a connection could exist, or that she had been using it to ensure he was doing alright on his own. For decades, Dylan truly believed he was utterly alone and completely shut off from any close relationships.
Serenity had opened his eyes to a world he never dreamed could exist. One that held the promise of family and a future. He had never spoken with anyone about the accident that had nearly cost him his life, or the thoughts that had run through his mind during the beginning of his time as a vampire. Keeping his emotions calm and preventing any memories of the accident from seeping over to his son, Dylan grinned at Serenity. "I hope so. He feels so strong. It almost makes me wonder how mortal parents manage to bond with their children without this connection." He already planned to spend all his time with his child, and with Serenity. Just because he was excited over the baby didn't mean he had forgotten about the child's beautiful mother.
He kissed her softly, before leading her toward the ballroom. His eyes slid sideways, a slight tinge of a blush on his cheeks. "Forgive me, love. I am afraid your announcement caught me off guard. You look absolutely stunning." He placed his hand on hers, fingers lightly rubbing her soft skin as his arm held her close to his side. "There won't be a more beautiful woman at the ball, and I am not saying that simply because you are carrying my child." He smiled softly, the joy in his eyes matched by the honesty in his tone. He didn't know what was going to happen, or if they were going to last, but he knew that right now, in this moment he didn't want to ever have to let her go. He didn't know why she had such a strong affect on him, but just being near her made him want to sweep her into his arms.
He tipped his head back, a deep laugh escaping him. He turned green eyes on her, shaking his head lightly. "I don't think that is such a bad thing. We are going to need things for our son." His eyes widened slightly, resisting the urge to smack his forehead. "You are right. I hadn't even thought about that yet. You have known about him for a while, any ideas, love?" Dylan didn't really have any particular names in mind, so long as it wasn't his father's. So long as his son and Serenity was happy, Dylan would be pleased with just about anything. He touched the link between him and his son, marveling at the soft return of affection over the bond. It was almost as if he needed to feel his son to keep his mind from convincing him it was just a dream. So caught up in the moment, Dylan didn't realize they were almost to the ballroom doors.

Serenity followed Dylan’s train of thought for a long moment and found it endearing in a way that he kept the memories of the accident from reaching the baby boy. She touched Dylan’s shoulder lightly and smiled at him. “He knows about the accident, at least partly.” She said softly. “Our first meeting. It was one of the first memories he managed to worm his way into. I think he has his father’s thirst for knowledge.” She said with gentle smile before nodding in agreement about the baby’s strength. “I can tell you he is already so much stronger then Robin was at this point, which makes me think we only have two and half months before he comes rushing into the world.” She said with a small grin, running her hand over the bump as two of them continued to make their way from the dungeons.
Serenity couldn’t believe that she actually felt a small blush creeping its way onto her cheeks at Dylan’s words and couldn’t stop the smile that appeared as well. She was use to compliment having gotten them her whole life, but many were empty and meaningless, simply said to get something from either her or the clan, but with Dylan she knew that it was different and that warm her in a way, a feeling she hadn’t felt in ages. “Thank you, that means so much to hear it from you.” She said with another gentle smile. She already got the feeling that the longer she was with Dylan the more her reputation as the, dark, brooding and evil Potions Mistress would take a beating, but she was starting find she really didn’t care, she had no plans of letting him go anytime soon, and whoa to anyone who thought otherwise. Let them talk if they wished, she would be sure to quickly set them to rights.
Serenity found herself enjoying the laugh that escaped from Dylan and it caused a small one to escape from her as well. “I don’t suppose we could dress him up in Robin’s old baby dresses now could we?” She asked in a joking manner while tapping her chin thoughtfully with her free hand. “Perhaps you’re right; it may be a good thing after all.” She said with another small laugh escaping from her. She had indeed been thinking about names from the moment that she had found out the child was male and she nodded her head at Dylan’s question.
“I have indeed been thinking of names my dear, I’ve thought long and hard, and have gotten many amused emotions from our son on some of them. He was not please with the thought of being call Althazar, I honestly think my stomach is still recovering from violent reaction.” She said making a small face before continuing. “There was one he was warming to though. Nicolae Dilon Dracula-Selwyn.” She said simply. “Nicolae, after my great-great-great-great grandfather. Dilon, a variation on your name and then our joint last names.” She explained thoughtfully as the two of the walked on. She was personally not a fan of joint last names but she did them to benefit her children in which ever circles they chose to belong to, and matters weren’t helped any by the fact that she hadn’t been married since Simon.
As they finally reached the doors Serenity turned towards Dylan and reached up touching his face gently. She’d sensed him reaching their son and could also sense him reassuring himself and she smiled at him. “I assure you love, he’s there, and now that he knows you, you will have no trouble feeling him.” She said before leaning up and giving him a light kiss before flicking her finger and hearing the large doors creep open allowing them entrance into the large ballroom.

Dylan glanced sideways at her, not sure what he thought about his son knowing a bit about the accident. He wasn't even sure how he felt about what had happened, the rush of emotions far too confusing for him to decipher. It almost felt cruel to expose the child to such intense pain, despair, and rage. It was true being a vampire already made the boy something special and different from most children, but that didn't prevent Dylan from wanting the best for him. A grin crossed his face at the prospect of being able to share the world with his son as his mother had done with him. There was so much knowledge in the world, and their baby would have the chance to drink it all in for decades to come. The curiosity he had felt upon connecting with the babe had been so familiar it was like having his own emotions reflected back at him.
Dylan decided he loved it when Serenity blushed. She always seemed to be cold and unyielding, but when it was just the two of them she seemed to relax. The soft color on her cheeks added to her attractive look, she might as well have been glowing with beauty in his eyes. The subtle bump where their child rested only served to make her even more beautiful. He locked his green orbs on her blue ones, marveling at their color. "I mean every word, love. Perhaps I should tell you how beautiful you are more often, if just to see that adorable blush." He teased her gently, his bright smile not fading as he let his eyes slid over her frame in appreciation. A deep chuckle escaped him, shaking his head. "No, I highly doubt our son would appreciate being dressed in girl's clothing."
Dylan quieted down as Serenity addressed the matter of a name. His face twisted with disgust at Althazar, barely keeping from miss-stepping. His disgust changed into amusement that his son had also disapproved of the horrid name. For several moments, Dylan did not respond, mentally turning the name over in his mind. He didn't care much for the joint last name, but just because that is what they put legally did not mean their son had to use both. Plus it gave the boy the choice of which name he preferred. "Nicolae Dilon Dracula-Selwyn." He said slowly, as if tasting the name as it rolled off his tongue. Letting a smile spread across his face, Dylan nodded. "It has a nice ring to it. Any particular reason for Nicolae?" He wondered if there was a story behind that name, behind the man who had held it before.
"I am a bit surprised at the middle name, perhaps having the connection between him and I blocked had something to do with it." Dylan chuckled lightly, having been a bit surprised to hear a variation of his name in her suggestion for their son's name. His fingers began running along her hand again, questions racing through his mind. It was one thing to be expecting a child, but what were they going to do when he arrived? Dylan didn't want to be a father who was never around, but he knew neither he nor Serenity were going to give up their jobs. Though, he supposed it wouldn't be that hard to take the child to the office with him and have Serenity take him to class when he was gone. A large grin escaped him again, suddenly consumed with the thought of being able to hold the owner of the presence he could feel through the link.
They stopped before the doors to the ballroom, Dylan turning to face Serenity as her hand lightly touched his cheek. He dipped his head slightly, hiding behind his shaggy hair. "That obvious am I?" He muttered, returning her light kiss. It was a bit strange to feel a burst of happiness from their son at every affectionate touch or gesture, but he was rapidly growing accustomed to the welcome presence. Dylan had a feeling that he was going to hover for a while, especially when away from Serenity. He slipped his mask on as the doors opened, taking Serenity's hand and leading her into the ballroom. He knew people would be staring as soon as they noticed her condition, and he couldn't wait to share the news. Schooling his features into a soft smile, he squeezed her hand lightly as he led her farther into the ballroom, the doors closing behind them.
