Persephone needed a moment alone; not just a moment alone in the common room or in the dormitories. She did not need a moment alone within the castle walls. What she needed was fresh air and solitude. That afternoon seemed just as good a time as any to retreat to the lake. The November air was crisp and chilly, tempting Persephone to pull her robes more tightly across her body. It did her good, however, helping her to clear useless thoughts from her mind. The sun was partially obscured by clouds, few rays warming the earth below her.
Heaving a sigh, Persephone plopped herself down before the lake, far enough away to eliminate any potential threat that the giant squid could have posed. She pulled her potions textbook from her bag, flipping through the pages in an effort to appear as though she were studying, should anyone have the mind to approach her. Enjoying potions as much as she did, Persephone had already gone through most of the textbook, pinpointing ones that she would be sure to test out.
She closed her eyes for a brief moment, allowing herself to sort through her thoughts. She would have to do something to limit the letters that her father and stepmother sent her, each of them containing useless, prideful information about their lives. Perhaps then she would be less troubled. As it was, the Coslett family was stifling her, speaking about how lovely a woman she'd become, now that she had finally come of age. What plans her family had for her, she did not want to think of in that moment. She would much rather enjoy this autumn day... or what was left of it, at least.

Silas was sitting beneath a tree near the black lake. He was reading a book retrieved from the restricted section of the library (illegally). The book itself was on the subject of curses which bordered on the "dark" side of magic. He had taken the book almost a month before, and had switched its cover so it seemed as if he was reading about advanced transfiguration. He had written in the margins, things like "Use full" or "Needs some tweaking".
As he finished rereading the section on particularly nasty spells, he looked up to take in his surroundings. The area itself was the same as when he sat down, except for one minor change and that was the presence of the beautiful brunette Persephone Coslett. He let his eyes take her in, he felt the attraction he always had when he saw her....but nothing more. He surveyed the situation like a chess game, deciding weather or not he was going to go down and say hello.
Logically Silas knew she would most likely see him anyways, and he would prefer the advantage of the first move. Picking himself up, he made a quick swish with his wand packing away all of his things. He shrunk them and placed them in his pocket except for the book he had been reading. Walking at a nice pace he made his way down to Persephone. When he reached her he said "Hello Persephone" and then awaited her to return his greeting.

Persephone tended to be acutely aware of her surroundings, which was why she was surprised to see her former boyfriend Silas Emery approaching from the forest. Perhaps he had already been amongst the trees when she had arrived at the lake. Closing her potions book, she set it on top of her bag, turning to face the dark-haired man. She allowed her gaze to travel over him, making no attempt to hide it. There had always been an undeniable attraction between them, something that they both knew very well. She had barely seen him since the school year had started, but he had not changed much since she had last seen him; handsome as ever.
She accepted his greeting with a nod. "Hello Silas," she returned with a soft smile. She was sure that the Ravenclaw boy new to expect charm from her in most situations. Back when they had been dating, Persephone had cared about him greatly. Of course, she still cared about him, but their relationship had been unable to progress as she had wanted it to. Silas had proven to be too apathetic, revealing as little to her as he could have and gotten away with it. Persephone wanted to trust him, but she had found that it was difficult to do so.
"We haven't met for quite some time. How have you been?" She inquired, hoping that her question would get a satisfactory response.

He felt her look him over. The familiar illogical emotional chills spread through his body. When it came to her he was prey, in a sense she was the one thing (bar his brother) that he couldn't explain logically. When it came to her his mind turned human, subject to animalistic desire. He however hid such things well.
When she responded to him and smiled he felt his heart pick up pace, however externally he showed no such signs. He remained impassive, keeping up his loggical exterior. He quickly (and gracefully) sat down. Listening to her inquiry he responded to the best of his ability. He was slightly sociopathic, and his morals could change at a whim, but for an unexplicable reason he felt uncomfortable lying to her.
"Its been awhile" he paused for a moment and then "I have been....adequate. Long nights, plenty of studying to keep me busy, as well as...other things". He gave her a smile, one without true feeling. He would be lying to say he wasn't happy to see her (and a logical man doesn't lie to himself) however he was unsure if he really was going to enjoy he presence.

When Silas gave her an unemotional smile, Persephone could not help but wonder just what he had been up to. What besides studying had been keeping him busy? She knew that he was incredibly intelligent, and he very well could have been pursuing knowledge, but she couldn't help thinking that perhaps he had found a new girl. If that were the case, she would have to be sure to casually mention how she had moved on as well. It was always better to be the first person in a broken couple to start dating again... or at least experience told her so.
Brushing a strand of hair behind her ear, Persephone moved an inch away from Silas, giving him more space to sit. At least, that was what she told herself. She was pleased to see him, but there was no telling what she would do if she remained in extremely close proximity to him. It was something that she did not want to find out; she had not been able to trust Silas before, why would she be able to trust him now?
"I'm glad to hear that you've been well; I was frightfully worried that something awful would happen to you," she said teasingly, though her first words had been truthful. Oh, what other small talk could she make? "Are you enjoying your classes this year?"

He watched her move her hair, and inch away from him. For another person such a thing would have hurt, but Silas didn't care. Things like this didn't affect him, he was like an emotional wasteland. He had only ever tried to care for two people his brother and her, but it wasn't enough. So she dumped him, left him and Silas was hurt. There wasn't anyone else in the world that had hurt him like that. He couldn't explain it but nevertheless she brought out emotions in him, gave his life that illogical spark, and he loved/hated her for it.
He heard her teasing comment. "Something awful? You make it sound like I am risking my life". When she asked about his classes he knew it was just a form of stalling, but he answered anyway "The classes are failing to challenge me, they are nothing more then a nuisence that I must put up with for the rest of the year. So I have found other more....provoking things to occupy my learning." as an after thought he decided to follow up with "How have you been?"

When Silas made the comment about risking his life, Persephone felt a surge of unease course through her. Knowing her former boyfriend, he could very well have been up to something that many would consider to be life threatening, and he would be facing it without an ounce of fear in him. On to the matter of classes, then. Persephone was unsurprised that Silas was not enjoying his classes; he was incredibly intelligent, something that she had always admired about him. Of course, as she had learned in their time together, he enjoyed a good challenge.
Again, his words led her to wonder what it was that he found so provoking. She didn't dare to ask him then. Perhaps she would approach the subject at a later time, assuming she ran in to Silas again.
"I've been decent," she replied. "My family's company has become rather annoying lately, but otherwise, I've been well. I haven't had very much happening to me lately." Persephone told him. "But I'm sure you'd rather not talk about them. They aren't very interesting, as you know."

He actually grimaced at the mention of her family. He had the displeasure of meeting her family. They were cold, and there was no love between family. "Well they are 'interesting' just not very nice for small talk." He looked at her and tried his best smile "It's good that your well" he said.
He let his book drop to his side, and then ran his hands through his hair. "So, other than that, how have classes been for you?" he asked politely. Small talk was always useless in his opinion however he was making an effort to be nice 'Something my brother suggested' he thought. He felt a light breeze begin to pick up, he heard the rustling of the tree leaves. His book opened, he quickly (and as inconspicuously as possible) shut it.
(sorry for how short this post is)

OOC: Don't worry about it! Sometimes it's hard to write a bunch. No need to apologize. BIC: Persephone noted the grimace that took hold of Silas' lips after she had mentioned her family. After they started dating, she had decided that it would be a good idea for them to meet. Silas was incredibly intelligent and from a respectable pureblood family, and she had hoped that he would get along with her family, especially her father. Addanc had been very accepting of their relationship, thinking Silas to be well-suited to his daughter. The Ravenclaw student, however, had been unimpressed by her cold, prideful family. Of course, she agreed with him, but after that one meeting, Persephone had sworn to keep them from meeting again. When he smiled at her, she couldn't keep herself from smiling in return. It was an expression that she rarely saw on the man's face. She watched him closely as he ran his hands through his hair, mussing it slightly. He returned her question about classes, but before she could respond, she saw his book open out of the corner of her eye, something that Silas was quick to correct, trying to make it seem like nothing. She had to wonder what sort of information the book contained; she got the feeling that it wasn't innocent material. "My classes have been fine. I'm doing excellently in potions, as usual. And, as always, I hate my muggle studies class," she answered. After a brief pause, Persephone spoke up again: "I really didn't expect to see you here today. You've made my day much more interesting already."

OOC: Soooo since we started, is there any direction in particular you would like to see this go, have them become friends? Hate each other? get back together? I'm just wondering (and of course wont happen right away) because that will affect the direction of some of my posts.
He almost grinned on the inside at her muggle studies comment....almost. She was always good at classes, something that he was thankful for as it was part of the reason they had become an item at one time. They had always had a strange attraction to each other, however what really pushed them together was in 5th year they were paired up for a potions assignment. Things had started off rocky, his attraction to her messing with his head. Then an even happened and they became close. Sort of. When she dumped him, he brushed it off falling further into the apathy, 'Like a moth to close to the flame, but instead of burning up I went cold' he thought, somewhere in the background of his mind.
"I hadn't expected to see anyone here today, It seems to be a bit...cold for most for some odd reason. I think they might be scared of the Giant Squid. Personally I think the founders used that to scare the children into behaving and over time everyone began to think it true. Logically however if you sit far enough back you will not be" he paused "Eaten". "Interesting you say? and how is that?" he asked, any other man would have a slight smile on their lips at the almost flirtatious comment. However Silas wasn't flirting and said it in his usual 'I have no feelings, and may be a psychotic killer, or possibly wasn't loved as a child' tone.

OOC: Hmm... well, it seems like Persephone and Silas have some leftover feelings for each other, so I can see them getting back together. BIC:
So neither of them had been expecting anyone to be outside that day, and with good reason; it was not the most beautiful day to be outside, and many of the students, particularly the younger ones, were frightened of the lake. If she wanted to be honest with herself, however, she would admit that she was pleased that no one else was around to her her and Silas' private conversation, especially after he met her slightly flirtatious comment without a smile.
How was she to respond to his question? Persephone had learned that Silas was not like the average guy that took things at face value and moved on. He was far too intelligent to behave as such. He had a way of making her confess to things that she wouldn't dare tell others.
"I just meant that..." she trailed off, taking a moment to think. "It's a pleasure to see you Silas, really."

OOC: I Apologize for how long it has taken for me to get back to you....sorry ;D
BIC:
On the inside deep deep deep down he felt his heart twinge slightly. It touched him that she thought it was a pleasure for them to see each other. Things had ended badly and he still somewhere in the black abyss he called a heart had feelings for the beautiful girl in front of him. Subconsciously a small genuine smile graced his lips.
He looked around momentarily, it was getting colder as the day moved on. The sun would peek out of the grey clouds and then quickly would be swallowed back up by the grey. It was going to rain soon. Silas could feel the change and read the signs of the rain coming. He choose to ignore it however and turned back to Persephone. "It has been.....nice....seeing you as well" he replied. He looked into her eyes, and almost became lost in them.

OOC: Don't worry about it. Life happens. BIC: Persephone felt a wave of warmth wash over her as Silas began to smile. It was a rare sight indeed, and when she did see it, it always knocked her back a little. His smiles were true, never forced. The expression never graced his face without a good reason. She was very pleased to know that he still considered her worthy of his smiles. A small shiver ran through her as a cold wind blew past. The weather was growing less and less tolerable. The sky was almost completely grey, the tell-tale signs of a rainstorm forming overhead. Perhaps she should move inside soon... and yet, she wasn't ready to leave just yet. This meeting could prove to be very important. She was pleased to hear Silas return her sentiment, but it was when he looked deep into her eyes that she felt a spark go off inside of her. She hadn't felt this way since she and Silas had been dating. What if... she thought, her gaze not leaving his. Tentatively, she lifted her hands, resting them gently on either side of his face. "Silas," she breathed. "I'm sorry for what I did."

OOC: Sorry for leaving you hanging for soooo long...life got in the way unfortunately...It still is infact but I couldn't comeback and then leave seconds later without responding
He watched her shiver, and then when her hands touched his face his body involuntarily did the same. It was cruel the way his body betrayed him and no matter how cold he was or wanted to be she just got under his skin. He heard her words and his stomach did a flop. He moved forward and kissed her
OOC: Sorry for the shortness...I am sick which is the only reason why I had time to get on and so my writing is not very good
