((OOC: Even re-reading this I couldn’t remember if she stuffed her badge into her pocket, but let’s just go with she did maybe while he was in the bathroom or something.))
Zellina laughed softly at the was Jayson acted with the small stuffed animal she had with her and found herself again thinking that someone this sweet couldn’t have possibly committed the murders she’d seen, it just wasn’t possible in her mind and it gave her more reason to get to the bottom of things. If for no other reason than to repay him for saving her like he had. She knew that he had no reason to help her when he did but he did anyone not evening having a clue as to who she was. Killers just didn’t do that and she had known plenty of those. She couldn’t tell why but she had the urge to tell him exactly who she was but since she had no idea how he would react to the information she bit her tongue and kept it to herself.
She easily caught the key that was tossed to her and nodded her head quickly. “Will do, I think I have had enough saving for one day.” She said with a wink before heading out the door. Once outside she locked the door behind her and slipped the key into her pocket next to her badge and headed quickly headed out of the building and to the small market that the two of them had passed before heading into Jayson’s apartment. She milled around the small market for a long moment grabbing a few pieces of fruit and the various odds and ends she needed to replace the stuff she had left in the hotel before making her way to the check out. As she approached she noticed the look the clerk was giving her, the young man seemed very curious if his expression was anything to go by Zellina shrugged to herself before reaching into her pocket and pulling out her badge.
“I hate to do this but would you mind answering a few questions while you ring me up?” She asked politely holding out the badge so he could see it more clearly. The young man looked at it for a moment before nodding his head. She asked her usual questions about whether or not the he had noticed anything odd recently, though the only strange thing he had to report was seeing her with the strange guy from the building next door, which she promptly ignored. Now that she knew exactly where Jayson was those questions weren’t really needed so she simply skipped them all and gave the young man a description of her brother, asking if he’d seen anyone matching him. Sadly though the question, as it seemed to be every time she asked it, was met with a dead end. With a sigh she thanked the clerk, paid for her stuff and headed back out of the market and back into Jayson’s building.
Heading back up the slightly frightening staircase she unlocked the door with her free hand and headed in closing and locking the door behind her as she did so. “I wasn’t sure if you were hungry or anything so I just grabbed some fruit from the market.” She said as she sat the bag down by her things before tossing the key back to Jayson. She went about situating her stuff and as she pulled her wallet from her back pocket and heard a telltale thud on the ground and in that moment her blood ran cold. How could she have been stupid enough to put her wallet and badge in the same pocket. While she didn’t get the feeling that he would actually hurt her, she just couldn’t quite shake the urge to start praying.

It was difficult not to leap off the couch and stop Zellina before she could get out of range of his muted senses. Only the gentle easing of the pain within his head and the deep seeded exhaustion in his frame enabled him to let her pass out of his sight and vanish in the chaos of the world around them. Drawing all his senses in on himself, Jase finally allowed himself to slip into a half sleeping state. His eyes slid shut gratefully, not entirely sure how he had managed to push himself as far as he had. Darkness swallowed him almost instantly, his body taking advantage of the momentary downtime. The minutes passed by seeming more like mere fractions of seconds before the sound of a key in the lock had him springing to his feet. As the handle turned, Jase had to quickly release his instinctive grip on the gun still hidden at his back.
Shaking his head as awareness of what was going on returned, he quickly turned away as Zellina entered not wanting her to see how he reacted to her return. It took a moment for the adrenaline rush to begin to fade, muscles slowly relaxing as he breathed deeply, mentally ordering his instincts to stand down. The little stuffed wolf had been shoved carelessly onto the floor with the abruptness of his awakening, catching his gaze where it lay like a struck puppy. Scooping the furry animal up before Zellina could see it, Jase carefully set the stuffed wolf down upon the arm of the couch. Turning back around, Jayson stretched his arms out as a yawn crept over him. "Fruit sounds great." As short as his nap had been, between it and the medication in his system, Jase was feeling a lot better. The fog of pain in his head had lifted, though his vision was still acting up a bit as it couldn't seem to decided exactly what colors it could decipher.
A smile crept over his features as he watched her get her things situated. He couldn't explain the relief that had washed through him when his sleep addled mind recognized it was Zellina who was entering his room. Not that he did not believe her capable of taking care of herself just fine, but the strong attraction he felt toward her made him hope he hadn't made a mistake in letting her go out into the open so soon after the attack. There were no guarantees about anything, and only time would reveal if they were truly safe or not. Until then, Jase had to trust that they were alright, a fact the wolf within him raged against. Taking a step toward her with the intention of assisting her in putting things away, the flash of something metallic falling from her pocket drew his gaze down even as the thump sounded harshly in his still sensitive ears. As his gaze took in what he was seeing, Jayson felt all the air leave his lungs as his heart thudded to a sudden stop.
All he could hear was the distant rushing of the blood in his veins, vision tunneling until all he could see was the badge lying so innocently on the ground. Denial immediately sprang up in his mind, all the while cursing himself for being so stupid as to fall for her act. Anger warred with disbelief in his hardening eyes as he lifted his gaze from the Detective's badge to Zellina's angelic features. His brow furrowed, mouth a harsh line as every muscle within his body tensed, heart pounding even as his mind spun at the devastating revelation. "You're a fucking cop." The words were uttered almost emotionlessly, only the stunned betrayal in his eyes revealing the depth in his tone. Taking a step toward her, Jase felt anger surging through him as he found himself reiterating the revelation. "You are a Fucking COP!" He snarled out, not sure when he had drawn the gun that was now leveled at her, hand steady despite not knowing what he was going to do.
Jayson knew without a doubt that he would sooner shoot himself than hurt Zellina, even if she was a cop. Unable to remain standing still, he began pacing back and forth restlessly, keeping the gun trained on her even as he moved. A chill crept through him, wondering if she had known who he was all along. Stopping abruptly, Jayson studied her as the spark of chemistry between them fought with his distrust. "Do you know who I am?" He demanded an almost pleading edge to his voice, unable to really believe that she could have been playing him all along. Moving toward her, eyes flashing with a dangerous glint, Jase mentally calculated how much time he might have to get away. If she alerted anyone else to his presence during her absence, surly they would have come barging in on them already, wouldn't they? But she had returned without any backup, clearly not intending on revealing herself to him as a cop. So what did it all mean?

Zellina could feel her heart sink at the emotionless tone of Jayson’s voice before he started yelling. She didn’t even as much as flinch though when the gun was pointed at her. She’d stared down the barrel of one on more occasions than she cared to recall but none of them had hurt her like this. She couldn’t really even say she blamed him though for his reaction considering that she saw it as more her fault than anything for not being honest with him from the beginning. Slowly she brought her hands up in an instinctive gesture to show that she herself wasn’t armed at the moment and almost meant no harm to the other and she honestly didn’t. Against she will though her eyes teared up a bit at the outburst from the other and the question of whether or not she knew who he was the whole time.
Slowly she shook her head at the question. “I didn’t, at least not at first.” She whispered out. “I’m a detective from New York.” She added. “I requested to be assigned to the task force that was assigned to find you, but I have my own reasons.” She mumbled out, still holding her hands up, though her eyes were now pointed down at the floor, she hated to cry and even worse she hated people seeing her cry no matter what the reason. “I’ve seen the crime scene photos, everything they have against you, but I couldn’t believe it.” She said with a shake of her head, and slowly she glanced up at him. “And after meeting you, having you save my life, I refuse to accept it. I know all about magic, I’ve even got a witch in my family!” She said quickly her voice rising in pitch a little at her frustration at the situation. “I know what those crime scenes remind me of but the others wouldn’t believe me, just like they wouldn’t believe me when I told them my last partner was killed by a wizard.” She spat out in annoyance at the memory.
The stress of the situation seemed to be catching up with her as she slowly felt her legs begin to weaken but rather than fight it she simply allowed herself to slump to the floor, still glancing at Jayson, if he was going to shoot her she wanted to see her end coming so that she would die knowing she had been wrong about him from the beginning. “I came her for two reasons, to find you and prove that you weren’t responsible for what happened and to find my brother, I wasn’t lying about that. The others thought I was crazy for thinking that you had left the country but in one of Zack’s last letters he had said he was pretty sure he’d seen someone who looked a lot like you here in London.” She muttered out. No one knows exactly where I am besides my family; I didn’t want the others following me in case I did find you.” She added running a hand through her hair.
“I didn’t want to run the risk of them finding you through me, probably not the smartest move of my part now, but whatever.” She bit out with a dry laugh wiping quickly at the tears that fell. “I don’t know what it was about you that made me do that but I know that a reaction like this is why I didn’t tell you this shit sooner.” She said quickly not wanting to let herself think that he might actually kill her. “I’ll find my brother on my own and your whereabouts will stay with me, you saved my life, I couldn’t turn you in now even if I wanted to.” She then made a frustrated noise as she locked eyes with him, fresh tears making their way into her eyes. “Believe me or not, I don’t give a damn anymore, so either shoot me or let me go.” She whispered out with a sigh.

Jase could feel his hand trembling minutely as Zellina began to speak, not really sure what to believe but finding himself unable to continue to point the gun at her. He cringed as she mentioned having seen the crime scene photos, wishing he couldn't remember the grisly images that were forever burned into his memory along with the faces of his victims. His head snapped up from where he had been staring at the ground, not even paying attention to the gun still held in his grasp at her mention of magic. "You know?" He asked reflexively even as she continued on. There was near desperation in his voice, the idea of someone actually believing him and knowing what was going on seeming too good to be true. He didn't say anything as she slumped to the ground, the muzzle of the gun following her down more from instinct than any conscious decision.
His mind was too caught up in the revelation that she knew about the magical world he had finally stumbled upon. The tears that slipped from her beautiful eyes felt like a knife being slid slowly into his chest, his face showing every conflict within him. Jayson had always been an open book, unashamed of his feelings and allowing others to see them. Being on the run had done little to expunge that trait, though he did learn how to be emotionless when needed. Watching Zellina confess all she knew as tears ran down her cheeks, Jase could do little more than try to cling to sanity as they fell headfirst through an emotional tsunami. At her final words, Jase dropped the gun away from her with a choked huff of forced laughter. "I could never shoot you." He murmured softly, rubbing hand over his face as he processed what she had said.
Gun still in hand, he snorted softly before lifting both hands to his forehead and rubbing his temples in an attempt to stave off the return off his headache. "This is all so messed up and I don't know what to do anymore." Glancing down at the gun, he gave the weapon a disgusted look and flipped on the safety before tossing it onto his bed. "I'm sorry." He said softly, edging a bit closer to her as he dropped down to his knees before her. "Zellina, I…" He trailed off, struggling to explain when all he could think of were excuses that meant nothing. Growling softly at himself, he rubbed a hand over his face again as he steeled himself to give her the utter truth. "I killed those people." His words were soft, spoken with such devastated misery that he was a bit surprised. Never before had he said those words out loud to anyone, the confession practically torn from him. It was like opening floodgates as he found everything spilling out.
"Not intentionally, but that doesn't change the fact that it was me. That it's still me." Looking away from her, Jase sighed softly. "If I were any sort of decent person I would have put a stop to it all when I first figured out that I was responsible. So many innocent people, children even. All because of a stupid camping trip." Clenching his fists, Jayson glared down at his hands which were covered in the invisible blood of so many people. "I'm a monster." His eyes flashed with an inner strength, confidence and a desire for justice spurning him to make a desperate request. "Kill me. No one will even question it, you said yourself you are on the task force looking for me. I came here looking for answers, for a way to end it. But there isn't, at least not some magical cure." Leaning forward, his eyes gazing at hers gently, he couldn't stop himself as his hand lifted and his fingers gently wiped the tears from her cheeks.
He knew it wasn't really fair to ask that of her, nor did he really want her to have that memory. But Jase trusted her to protect the innocents because she cared enough to try to help a supposed serial killer all because she suspected something else going on under the surface. It wasn't fair for her, he couldn't fulfill his promise of finding her brother. He didn't know what he had been thinking, but now that the secret was out, Jayson knew he couldn't live with himself if he killed again. Zellina deserved better than that, she deserved to be safe if only from him. "A little girl died just a couple days ago, full moon." He said softly, the grief and horror in his voice suffocating in its intensity. "Don't let it happen again, promise me Zellina, that you won't let me kill again. No matter what happens." He turned his head away in shame, dropping his hand away from her face. He was a murderer yet here he was trying to comfort her like some decent human being.

A shuddering breath she hadn’t been aware that she had been holding escaped from her when he said he wouldn’t shoot her. In some part of her mind she had been sure that she was right about him and that he wouldn’t hurt her and she was relieved to know that she was right all along. When he said that he had killed those people she couldn’t stop herself from nodding her head, despite feeling that there was something more at play she didn’t doubt that it had been him. “I know you did, but I know you couldn’t control it.” She whispered out. “When I saw the photos I had my suspicions, I told you that. I took them to the witch in our family, my grandmother, and she confirmed my feeling, that’s why I came alone to find you.” She murmured out, her eyes meeting his and feeling herself overwhelmed a bit by the torment that seemed to be coming off of him in waves.
As he wiped away her own tears she leaned into the gentle touch for a moment before reaching up to his face with both hands, shaking her head at his request. “Please, please don’t ask me for something like that.” She whispered out, her voice cracking a bit as she felt tears building up again. “I couldn’t, I won’t.” She added shaking her head quickly. At the mention of the little girl through she could feel her heart sinking, while she felt pain for the family of the little girl, the pain she felt for the man in front of her was even stronger. She couldn’t imagine being at war with herself like he so clearly was.
A choked sob escaped from her as she gently pressed her forehead against his. She wished for a moment that there was something that she could do to ease his pain but for the life of her she couldn’t imagine what it was she could possibly do to help him or do what it was he was asking her to do, keep him from killing. Her mind raced over the various things that her grandmother had taught her over the years but she knew the information she was looking for just wasn’t coming to her. She frowned for a moment as though her thoughts were paining her and surprising herself even her leaned forward and gently placed a kiss to Jayson’s forehead. “I will do my best to keep that from happening again, but I will not kill you!” She whispered out fiercely with a shake of her head.
“As strange as this might sound, I think it’s time to call my grandmother.” She said gently before pulling back from him and reaching for her phone. She hoped that he trusted her enough to believe that she was calling who she said she was. Dialing the number quickly she put the phone to her ear. “Nana, I need your help.” She said simply. “I found him, and it looks like your hunch was right, I think he’s a werewolf.” She said looking to Jayson once more with nothing but pure affection and the need to help him shining in her eyes.

"Shhh." He soothed, leaning into the touch of her hands even as his own lifted to trail softly through her silken locks of hair. "It's ok, I shouldn't have asked that of you." He murmured, eyes closed as he savored the feel of her forehead pressed against his. This amazing woman before him was truly something beyond any imagination. After all that sorrow that followed him, it seemed impossible that he might be the recipient of someone so wonderful. He knew there was no chance of ever clearing his name, which meant he would never be able to return to the states and home. She would be giving up so much if anyone ever found out that she had helped him, or even that she had failed to turn him in. Jayson couldn't resist the urge to pull her into his arms for a moment, offering whatever comfort she might take from him.
It was hard to draw back, the relief of someone knowing all about him and still caring nearly overwhelming. He couldn't say that even his brother would still help him if he knew that his baby brother really had slaughtered all those people, willingly or not. Then again, Ethan would have a hard time accepting that magic and creatures like werewolves were real. The soft press of lips against his forehead drew Jayson from his thoughts. The fierce determination in Zellina's expression was both encouraging and inspiring. He didn't know what he had done to deserve her but he would stop at nothing to give her someone to be proud of. "Your grandmother? I talked to a witch and they told me there was nothing that could be done." He returned, not really questioning her but curious nonetheless what she expected to hear from her grandmother.
Jase let her go, feeling a twinge of apprehension creeping in the back of his mind as she pulled out her phone. Trusting her wasn't really a choice, just as falling for her hadn't been something he had willfully done. Willingly fallen perhaps, but not intentionally. Still, fall for her he had and so trust her he did. It only took seconds for the phone to connect and someone to answer the line. Hearing Zellina announce what he was so openly might have affected him more if he wasn't busy being stunned by the passionate fire in her beautiful gaze. He nodded almost absentmindedly in confirmation, feeling a bit strange at being labeled a werewolf despite the truth in it. The fact that she wasn't disgusted or frightened by the monster he carried within made the affection he felt for her swell into something far stronger and deeper. Moving toward her, he couldn't help pushing the phone away from her mouth and claiming those sweet lips as his own.

Zellina’s eyes widened for a moment at the feel of Jayson’s lips on hers before slowly slipping closed and just allowing herself to enjoy the moment. She knew that something had be building between the two of them in the short amount of time but she wouldn’t let herself hope, she didn’t think she could, but here she was kissing him and finding herself more than willing to tell the NYPD to go jump off a bridge. The clearing of a throat brought her back to herself and despite the fact that her grandmother wasn’t there she still blushed brightly as the kiss ended and she pulled back from him slowly. “Sorry Nana.” She said softly into the phone. “Hold on a minute.” She said again before holding the phone in front of her and hitting the button to put the old woman on speaker phone.
“So you found the wolf.” She said simply. “I trust things are progressing… nicely.” She added with an amused tone in her voice. “Nana! That’s what you saw! That’s what you were smiling about!” Zellina yelled at the woman with an accusing tone in her voice. The old woman on the other end simply chuckled at the younger woman. “Now dear don’t deny and old witch her pleasures.” She said simply. Zellina merely laughed lightly at this before her expression turned serious once more. “We need your help Nana, Jayson doesn’t want to kill, isn’t there anything we can do for him?” She asked softly before reaching over and gently touching Jayson’s face before turning her attention back to the phone.
The old woman ‘hmmd’ for a moment before sighing. “Sadly there is no cure, but there is something that will help.” She said before growing silent for a moment. Zellina’s heart sank for a moment after hearing there was no cure for the man but at the chance of there being something that might help her hope was renewed at least a little. “Tell us, please.” Zellina asked, the tone of her voice becoming pleading. “You will not be able to access it yourself, since your magical talents are next to nothing, or at least I don’t think they are, you haven’t gone through any changes have you?” The old woman asked. Zellina fixed the phone with an accusing look at the mere suggestion that Jayson might have attacked her in some way. “No I haven’t.” She bit out. At this the old woman sighed on the other end of the line. “Then that hasn’t come to pass yet I suppose.” She murmured, though it was low enough that Zellina had missed it.
“It’s called Wolfsbane Potion. It allows werewolves to retain their sense of self when they transform, and it makes the transformation a bit easier on the body.” She explained. “I don’t know if you’d be able to brew it Zellina but considering our family bloodline you might be able to, if not I’d be more than happy to make it for your dear little wolf myself.” She said before rattling off the instructions and the items needed to make the potion. When she finished writing down what the woman told them she frowned at some of the items. “Nana how the hell am I going to get all of this?” She snapped out causing the old woman to laugh a little.
“Relax dear I will owl the apothecary and have the items owled to you.” She said simply as if it were the most obvious answer in the world. “And just in case I will make a batch myself and send it as well. Now when you get it wolf you better take it, should help with that nasty headache you have all the time.” The witch stated to Jayson. “Zellina be a dear and take me off the blasted speaker, I have a few words to say to this wolf of yours.” She said simply. Zellina stared at the phone for a moment before glancing to Jayson and taking the phone off speaker as requested and handing it to him. “Are you there wolf boy?”
“Listen very carefully to me now Jayson Griffith, breath one word of what I’m about to tell you to Zell and I’ll use your tongue in my next potion.” She said simply and the grandmotherly tone of voice she had been using disappeared altogether. “I’ve seen where this relationship if yours will head, and I know that my granddaughter won’t be as she is now for much longer, but that is unavoidable, aside from that if you let one hair on her head come to harm after, I will kill you myself.” She said simply. Zellina merely sat there staring at Jayson and the phone with a curious expression on her face wondering what on earth her grandmother could possibly have to say to the man. “Now help her find my grandson. Sadly Zack’s situation is currently a bit more dire than the one you two are in right now, it seems that Zell asking questions had struck a nerve in the wizarding world. Best of luck.” And with those parting words the line went dead.

Jayson could feel himself flushing as the clearly disgruntled throat clearer on the other end of the phone broke up the spontaneous kiss. His brother always did tease him about having the world's most amazing lack of timing. Jase wasn't sure exactly what he was expecting, but the voice that resounded from the phone wasn't quite it. He huffed at being called the wolf, a bit turned off by the blunt terminology. He certainly didn't see himself as a wolf since he spent more time as a human than anything else. When Zellina's grandmother mentioned the possibility of something helping it took all of his self-control not to snatch the phone away and demand answers. A frown flashed over his features as his hearing caught the murmured words barely uttered hundreds of miles away over the phones connection. Jase made a mental note to ask Zellina about her grandmother after the call was over.
"Wait." He interrupted at the mention of the potion and what it could do. "Are you saying that I would have control over what I did when I transformed?" Jase didn't care if the transformation itself was harder or easier so long as he could stop the savage killings. The physical pain was nothing compared to the emotional devastation of murder, it seemed like a rather fitting punishment for a monster. He fell silent as Zellina got instructions about the potion and the list of ingredients. As the woman rattled off what was needed, he could feel a headache coming simply from the oddity of the list and the things mentioned he once thought didn't exist. He glared at the phone at being called 'wolf' again, though he couldn't deny the seemingly eternal headache that pained permanent lines of pain on his forehead. At the woman's request to speak to him privately, Jayson glanced over at Zellina with a confused look on his face before slowly taking the phone from her.
"I have a name you know." He replied, not sure he wanted help from someone who didn't seem to have a single drop of care in her about his condition. He didn't expect to be treated like anything more than a monster, but being called by the name of one instead of his name was a bit of a low blow. However, he quickly forgot about it as the woman spoke. Pressing the phone closer, he turned away from Zellina. His voice dropped, the threatening growl instinctive as he spoke. "Where will it head? What are you talking about? Hello?" With a deep growl he pulled the phone away from his ear and glared at it. Turning back around, he held the phone out to Zellina. "She hung up." It difficult not to get his hopes about the potion, though Zellina's grandmother's strange message was doing a pretty good job of distracting him. Sitting down next to Zellina, he sighed softly.
Strange to think that just minutes ago he was pointing a gun at her, wondering where he was going to go next. "The next full moon isn't for a couple weeks, so we should focus on finding your brother while we can." He shook his head, a small smile creeping over his lips. "Seems like such a weird thing to be talking about. I thought I was losing it when I first entertained the idea. If it hadn't been for that wolf attack…" He trailed off, his hand rising on its own accord to rub at his shoulder where the bite mark remained engraved in his skin as a permanent reminder of the incident that changed his life forever. A small shudder ran down his spine as his fingers trailed over the raised teeth marks that lay hidden beneath his shirt. It was hard to believe something so simple could cause so much damage and horror. Of course now his body was scared by things he couldn't remember and would never want to recall even if he could.

At the question that sprang from Jayson, Zellina's grandmother let out a small snort into the phone. "Haven't you been listening to me?" She asked sounding rather amused by his sudden outburst. Zellina's eyes lit up at the exchange and she couldn't help but wonder why it was that her grandmother kept calling Jayson wolf. True, he was what he was, but she couldn't imagine that he enjoyed the nickname, especially if the look on his face was anything to go by. Zellina opened her mouth and was about to ask that the older woman be more specific when she was cut off by said woman. "You might have control, it's a bit different for all those that try the potion, it is still so new and a damn pain in the ass to make. Zellina, you better like him a whole hell of a lot to try making it." The woman added. Zellina merely sighed a bit at the last part while turning a brilliant shade of pink.
"Some of my best friends are werewolves and I call them all wolf, so suck it up cupcake." The old woman said with a laugh into the phone again. Zellina watched as the two spoke and couldn't seem to control her eyebrows as they crept up to her hairline when Jayson suddenly turned away from her with her phone. She was more than curious about what it was that her grandmother had to say to the man but she had learned a long time ago that if the woman didn't want to know something there was no point in asking her because she would never tell you unless she had her reasons.
"Can't say I'm surprised she did." Zellina said with a small laugh. "That what she does when people start asking questions that she really doesn't care or see any reason to answer." She added with a small shrug of her shoulders before reaching up to tuck some of her hair behind her ear to keep it in place, at least for a few minutes. "Nana may not sound like it but she's getting up there in years and if I had had the life she did I probably wouldn't be quite so cheery either, but she has her good days and bad just like anyone else and today was a good day." She finished with a nod.
At the mention of Zack, Zellina's eyes darted to Jayson's quickly for a moment before she looked down at the floor, suddenly feeling rather guilty for not thinking of her brother sooner. "I was so caught up in talking to Nana about you, I forgot for a moment." She said sounding a little depressed. "I can't believe I did that." She mumbled while tugging on the end of her hair a little and looking down at the floor again. "Would it seem terrible of me if I asked if we could wait until tomorrow to start looking again?" She muttered out, still looking at the floor as she spoke. "I want to find Zack as quickly as possible but I also really want to find him as safely as possible." She said before glancing up and giving Jayson a meaningful look for a moment before looking away again. "I think we both need time to process and if Nana is going to be sending those potion ingredients to us, I want to make sure we're here when the owl arrives." She added with a nod of her head. "All of it does seem a little strange doesn't it?" She asked quickly, seeming to push the dark thoughts out of her mind and flashing the man a small smile at his statement.
"You think you have the world figured out and then BLAM! It's right there in your face whether you're ready for it or not." She said before a sad smile slowly made its way onto her face. "As horrible as everything that has happened as been, if it hadn't been for that wolf attack, we might not ever have met." She said slowly starting to toy with her hands. "And I'm really glad we did." She added with a small but warm smile.

"Hey, it's ok." Jase soothed, brushing a strand of hair away from Zellina's eyes. "I doubt Zack would want you to do nothing but worry yourself to death about where he might be." It was difficult to resist the desire to pull her into his arms and chase away the darkening cloud appearing in her gaze. "Believe me, I know what that is like. As amazing as it seems, there are still times when I forget exactly what I am." Jayson's eyes darkened, thinking of the kiss he should never have stolen from her. It seemed so unreal to him to be talking so openly about the monster he had become, especially with a member of the police forces meant to capture him for his crimes. Still, he couldn't bring himself to draw away from her. Despite the logic of keeping her at arm's length, Jase could tell he was falling fast. Nodding his head, he gave in to the urge and drew her into his arms, common sense be dammed.
"It's been a long day, we both could use some rest before starting again. We are no good to your brother half dead with exhaustion." Not to mention he was still a bit in shock from the discovery of who Zellina was and the tempered hope her grandmother had presented him with. Plus he still need to get the supplies he needed to reinforce the abandoned basement he had found before the next full moon. The last thing he wanted was to harm Zellina because he didn't take the proper precautions. It was taking longer for him to break out, so Jase knew he was getting closer to figuring out what it took to stop his wolf self. That, however, was a problem for another day. If he tried thinking too hard anytime soon his mini headache would transform into a full blown migraine. At Zellina's words, he couldn't help but smile a bit in return.
"I admit, of all the police to catch up with me, I'm rather glad it was you." He teased lightly, pressing a soft kiss to her temple before he could stop himself. "So now that everything is out in the open, do you mind me asking how long you've known about magic? Even with everything I've learned and with what I am, it all just seems so unreal. Does it get any easier knowing about all this stuff?" He asked curiously. Jase couldn't imagine what it must be like to see things happening and always have the knowledge in the back of his mind that something else might be going on. If it hadn't happened to him, he probably never would have believed it. Still, transforming into a vicious wolf once a month did give one some interesting perspective. Ethan would never believe him, not even if he saw Jase transform right before his eyes.
Tightening his arms around Zellina, Jayson sighed softly. Never could he have imagined that a simple stroll thru the alley could have lead him to all this. He really hoped the potion her grandmother spoke of would help, even if it only did a little, anything would be better than one day discovering he had murdered the first person to believe in him. He was a bit stunned at the lengths she had gone to in order to figure out if he was simply a killer or if something else was going on. She could have been wrong about there being a magical factor, but she put herself at risk to find out and that displayed a strength of character few had. Jase hoped he would be able to live up to the trust she was putting in him. Not to mention their mutual attraction was rapidly growing into something stronger. She knew what he was and she was not running away. It touched something within him that Jase didn't think had survived his time on the run.

“You’re right he wouldn’t, he always tells me I worry to much about things.” She said with a soft laugh while shaking her head slightly. “It’s funny you’ve never even met my brother and yet you remind me of him so much.” She said with a small laugh which was quickly followed by a rather large yawn. She then noticed his eyes darken before smacking him lightly on the arm. “Stop it.” She said sternly, “It’s not your fault, none of it, and no amount of self loathing is going to make it any better or easier. We know what we need to do to at least help you deal with the changes and we’re going to do it as soon as the items arrive.” She said with a small encouraging smile on her face and leaning into him as he drew her closer and she nodded a bit at the idea of sleep. Sleep sounded amazing at that moment in time to her after everything that they had been through that day.
“Easier? I don’t know really, I mean I’ve know about it all my life, as soon as I was old enough to understand it my family explained it to me, Zack had a field day with that one, knowing something that I didn’t.” She said with a small laugh and shake of her head at the memory. “When it runs in the family, I don’t think it’s something that you try to hide, though I hear some people do.” She said shaking her head again though this time in confusion at the idea of people trying to hide who they are.
“I mean there are still tons of things I don’t understand about it and it always seems to find a way to surprise me but I think that once you start excepting the things you see and experience as fact it makes it all a lot easier to wrap your head around even if you don’t always end up understanding it.” She said with a laugh. “Though there are some things I wish I never would have learned about it, I knew there was magic but growing up I thought it was all good, I didn’t really know about dark wizards and such until my grandmother told me about it after a dark wizard killed my partner, we thought he was just your everyday killer but ended up being something else.” She said with a small frown forming at the memory before she chased it away. “It’s partly what caused my mental warning bells to go off about you.” She added.
“Though like anything else, magic is magic and whether it’s good or bad depends on who’s using it I suppose.” She finally said with a small shrug. She then pulled away from him before walking over to the bed and picking up the gun by the barrel and holding it out handle first to Jayson. “I don’t think that sleeping on that would be very comfortable, I’ve fallen asleep on my own before and ended up with a kink in my back like you wouldn’t believe!” She said with laugh moving back over to the couch and picking up her stuffed wolf before heading back over and climbing on to the bed, patting the space next to her.
“Come on we won’t get any rest trying to wrap our heads around magic now, at least if you’re feeling as drained as I am, and it will take a few hours for mail to get here no doubt.” She said before laying down and stretching out and listening as her back popped loudly allowing her to get rid of some of the stress of the day. She still couldn’t explain it all even in her own mind, what had happened, what she was feeling for Jayson, what her grandmother knew that she wasn’t saying yet, and even though she didn’t know or understand everything just yet she couldn’t say that it really bothered her all that much. She just hoped that when the time was right everything would come together and it would all make sense to her in the end.

Jayson's fingers curled around the cold handle of the gun, silently accepting it back from her. Without pausing to look at the lifeless steal that held so much power over life, he tucked it back into the waistband of his jeans after double checking the safety was on. Jase never liked sleeping without it within easy reach, especially with the danger lurking somewhere beyond the door and a bullseye on Zellina's back. At her words, he chuckled softly. "Oh, I believe it." He murmured as he watched her reclaim her stuffed wolf, the little furry creature still amused him. Possessiveness flared up within him as she settled down onto the lumpy bed he claimed as his own. With the full moon still so recent a memory, Jase could feel wolfish instincts leap to the surface with such ease it was difficult to tell what was human and what was wolf. One thing was for sure, wolf or man, both sides of him flared with pleasure at having her in his bed, even if just to rest.
Prowling over to her, he leaned down to murmur softly in a deep, almost growling voice. "You should not tempt me." Her feminine scent that rose from her skin tickled his sensitive nose with the close proximity, and he gave into the less of temptations. As he slipped into the empty space, his lips pressed against the delicate skin of her throat, trailing kisses along it's line as one hand crept onto her hip. It was a struggle to stop and his vision slipped into pure shades of gray without a trace of color even has his eyes brightened with the unearthly gleam of his wolf half. Slipping his arms around her frame, Jase pulled her close to him, tucking her head under his chin with a deep sigh that slightly growled in possession. While some traits of the wolf stayed with him all month long, many were exaggerated by the still waning full moon. It felt strange to be so close to someone and not worry about what was going to happen.
Jayson had denied himself nearly all human contact since he'd confirmed that he was responsible for all the murders, and yet the desire to not be alone might as well have driven him mad. He couldn't help think of the irony of being forced to isolate himself when the very monster he turned into was a creature born to live in a pack not to be solitary. Closing his eyes as he began to relax, a slight smile crept over his features. He wasn't alone anymore, as impossible as it might be, he had someone who not only cared but who knew of the horror within and didn't run the other way. One hand trailed lightly up her back to toy with the soft strands of hair almost thoughtfully. This woman was the best thing to happen in his life and there was little point denying that he had fallen for her. Despite all he had done to try and prevent himself from falling for her, it might as well have been preordained. Which, upon reflection of her grandmother's words, might very well have been the case.
The old woman had seemed almost tickled with glee over knowing exactly how close they already were becoming. Her ominous warning about things to come only increased his desire to protect her. But as Zellina had pointed out, there was little point in trying to figure it all out. Still, habit left Jayson's always active and curious mind whirring through the complexities of their situation. There was not telling how long it took, but it certainly wasn't long as between one thought and the next Jase fell into the darkness of unconsciousness. For the first time in months, he slept without dreams or memories and without shifting as if attempting to escape his own skin. Even asleep, half his senses were ever alert for any sign of danger so when something slammed into the window with a dull thud and a flurry of feathers hours later, Jase went from sound asleep to fully alert in the space of a heartbeat. Before he even knew what he was doing, Jase had Zellina shielded with his body even as his still wolfish eyes snapped up to the window, teeth bared slightly as a warning growl rumbled in his chest. "What the hell?"
